Holo-Light Announces First XR Code Jam
- XR developers encouraged to create powerful augmented reality applications using XR streaming technology
- Competition to take place virtually on May 06-12, 2021
Munich, Germany, April 15, 2021 – Holo-Light, a provider of immersive software and technologies, announced today that it will host a new virtual event for XR (extended reality) developers to compete in showcasing the new possibilities of XR streaming. The XR Code Jam on May 06-12 encourages aspiring and professional XR developers to build their own HoloLens 2 application with ISAR SDK, Holo-Light´s own remote rendering software development kit. The SDK enables real-time streaming of entire AR applications via powerful servers or the cloud to a HoloLens 2 device. Thus, making it possible to visualize complex data and computationally intensive graphic effects in augmented reality.
A renowned jury comprised of industry leading experts Mark Sage (Executive Director AR for Enterprise Alliance), Antony Vitillo “Skarredghost” (AR/VR developer, consultant and blogger), Heiko Ihde (VR/AR Prototyping Architect at AWS) and Phillip Landgraf (Head of Technology at Holo-Light) will look for applications surpassing the performance limits of mobile AR devices by using XR streaming technology. The best three app submissions will share a prize money pool of 3,000 Euro and will receive one-year free access to the ISAR SDK.
Highlighting the Benefits of XR Streaming
“We´ve created the XR Code Jam with the current challenges for AR/VR developers in mind. The program is designed to showcase why outsourcing the rendering process can be a game changer for the XR community,” said Luis Bollinger, Co-Founder and CMO of Holo-Light. “We are looking forward to many participants and their creativity in app development. Our world-class jury comprised of AR experts from the enterprise, infrastructure and development sector will have a glimpse at the next level of augmented reality use cases.”
Required for participating in the XR Code Jam are a HoloLens 2 or Android device (API Level 26+, 29 Target) and Unity. Developers can integrate the ISAR SDK as a Unity plugin into their own apps in less than 20 minutes. A Kick-Off event and ISAR workshop on May 6 will help participants to get started. Special Q&As, a fireside chat with Holo-Light´s Head of Technology Philipp Landgraf and an award ceremony on May 12 will also accompany the event.
